Throughout the long Winter, the artist neither knew nor cared. Ensnared to the whims of mercurial beings, endlessly crafting every passing fancy into existence ad infinitum.

While it is clear ai will play a large part in our future, it is much less clear, how we as a society will interact, shape and benefit (or not) from this step change. The industry is still in the honey moon phase with the large tech companies (you know the ones) are still releasing their research alongside uplifting blog posts and quirky demos. This won't last forever and it needs to be front of mind we are separated by one profit motivated decision from having this technology put out of financial reach or even worse turned against us. Having genuine ownership and governance from a diverse community is the best way to guard against this.
